FAQs

FEQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your fees?
We do not charge for estimates.

What will my total project cost?
Since the particular needs and specifications of a project can vary considerably, there is no way to provide an accurate estimate until the job has been measured, products selected and goals identified. We partner with a well-known financial institution to offer special financing options specifically tailored for our clients. As well, we offer the project in phases, therefore spreading the project and cost over time.

Do you install irrigation systems?
We can recommend a reputable irrigation company to assist with this portion of your project.

Do you prepare my Home Owners Association paperwork?
Once we have received a signed contract and deposit from our client, we are happy to prepare your HOA paperwork. You will be responsible for obtaining your required neighbors' signatures and delivering the package to your HOA, but we can handle the rest. We are familiar with all local HOA requirements, meeting dates and usually have the applications on hand. Your contract and deposit are always contingent upon HOA approval, but this has rarely been an issue.

What about permits for my project?
If your project requires a permit, we will prepare all paperwork to obtain the permit and facilitate all required county inspections. This is included in the cost of your project, but the homeowner can save this fee by doing this part themselves. This will be discussed at the time that your estimate is prepared.

Do you have references that I can call and/or visit?
Yes, we have references that we will happily provide to you. You are welcomed to call these references and with advance notice, we can arrange to have you view the completed project.

Do you guarantee your work and provide warrantees?
We offer guarantees on the structural workmanship of our projects, which vary from one to five years, dependent on the project. Manufacturer warrantees vary per product as well and this information will be provided upon request.

How do pavers compare with a "patterned" or "stamped" concrete?
Patterned concrete pavements are merely large sections of poured-in place concrete that have been embossed with a design. Therefore, they are prone to the same problem freeze/thaw cycles (i.e., cracking), lower strengths and higher absorption rates as poured-in-place concrete. Pavers permit a flexible, breathable surface, working with nature. Also, patterned concrete doesn't allow access to underground utilities or the ability to make repairs.

How long will my installation last?
Pavers will outperform poured-in-place concrete, stamped concrete and patterned asphalt by many years.

After the installation, will weeds grow from underneath my patio or driveway?
Once complete, the installation will not permit seeds to germinate from beneath the patio. However, weeds and grass could result from seeds or spores blowing into and lodging in the joint sand. If weeds do appear, a spot vegetarian killer can be used and will not damage the pavers.

What is the white film on the pavers?
The whitish powder-like deposit is Efflorescence. It sometimes appears on concrete or clay products. The deposit is a residue of a soluble salt carried to the face of the product by moisture and left on the surface as a dry powder following evaporation of the moisture. Efflorescence will wall and wear off in the course of time. The recommended procedure is to allow this natural process to take place.

If you'd like to speed up the process, it can be removed by washing the pavers in a mild cleaning solution. We can provide you with this solution. A small, unobtrusive area should be treated first to ensure results are acceptable since the cleaning solution may expose aggregate on the paver's surface leading to a lessening of the color mass.

No responsibility can be accepted by the installer or the manufacturer since any normal concrete contains calcium hydroxide which is inevitable when cement and/or lime and water are mixed together. Calcium hydroxide combined with carbon dioxide in the air to form calcium carbonate which then appears as a whitish deposit, efflorescence.
